As a brief introduction;

I’m Maya, I am from Calgary, Alberta, Canada and love hardcore music. I’ve been into it since I was about 14 or 15 and as I’ve gotten older I’ve especially felt very connected to the 90s diy “emo”hardcore music. 

I used to write and work on an archival project/blog called CanadianWasteland but now have started my own project. I have a background in digitizing tapes, records and CDs, scanning physical forms of music and organizing/promoting shows and events. I spend a lot of my time reading about, writing about and researching bands and music and am very involved in the music scene and community in Calgary. 

Going forward all of my archival work, music related art projects, any shows i organize or put on, scans of records/physical media, rips of physical media, live sets I record, and more will be shared through this Instagram account, my blog (aknownplace.ca) or my youtube (https://youtube.com/@aknownplacearchive?si=i8U_T22tVIv2lGNq).

All of the posts on the blog so far, are posts I wrote for CanadianWasteland but have now also moved to my personal site.

This blog is very much still a work in progress and likely will continue to change, if anyone has feedback let me know.

This summer I will be living remotely on Vancouver Island and will be less connected to technology, however I still hope to write blog posts, post and share on this blog and my Instagram account when possible and be responsive if anyone wants to get in contact.
