My Friend, My Urn is a screamo/hardcore band from Phoenix, Arizona who have been active since around 2025. They’ve released two demos, a split with Stitching from Flagstaff, Arizona and a split with Clay Birds from Mission Viejo, California. They are very active within the scene and play frequent shows across the US.

All of the members have been heavily involved in the screamo scene that has blown up across the US in the past few years with some members playing in other notable bands such as the now disbanded, Journal.

My Friend, My Urn has managed to create a unique style and sound that encompasses all of my favourite parts of screamo. The influence of the 90s screamo sound is definitely present, but this band feels like a fresh and modern take on screamo. Samples and lyrics are heavily political and rooted in today’s politics and issues. Far too often bands get caught up in the politics of the past, but My Friend, My Urn keeps it very current and has a strong and contagious passion for their messages when playing live. I’ve always loved their music but playing live is where this band really shines. The emotion and powerful political drive shows in each member and it sends a chill down your spine to hear their music played so passionately and emotionally.

With each release they seem to grow even stronger and more renowned in their sound snd style, their split with Clay Birds being my favourite release from them yet.

I had the pleasure of meeting the members of the band and hanging out with a few of them, as well as seeing the infamous Boob House where they practice, record and put on shows. (Hi Sterling and Berta you guys rock!)

My Friend, My Urn has so much potential and I look forward to seeing where they go next.
