The Farewell Chapter was a screamo/grindcore band from Massachusetts who were active for a couple of years in the early oughts. They recorded a demo on cassette and a three-song 7" before they split up.

The Farewell Chapter seamlessly blends the raw shrieks and emotional output of screamo with the fast paced, gut-wrenching heaviness of grindcore. The sadness and anger driving the music forward radiates from its every note, every scream and every beat. Their fast, technical, rhythmic instrumentals paired with the screams creates a chaotic, intense sound that will stick in your brain and leave you wanting more.

Both releases are relatively raw and unpolished recordings, but their demo specifically has that slightly ignorant, raw and unedited sound that sometimes only a demo can truly have. Completely genuine, emotional, powerful and driven by passion and feeling.

This band has been a favourite of late and has led me down a path of many other grindcore influenced emo of the early 2000s.
